Artist's Statement

Picture
"A beautiful object can take us out of the rush of practical life into another reality.

My intent is to make objects that can connect me to another person through non-verbal communication, establishing a relationship between the maker and the viewer.

My work is about ideas, textures, and contrasts. My ideas come from literary references, short stories; sometimes pulled from overheard comments.  I explore the juxtaposition of textures in my work. The contrasts are conceptual and visual - the contrast of what is on the inside as opposed to the outside - rough/smooth, light/dark."
